激雷

Gekirai is a film set in a fictional village isolated from the outside world by frequent lightning strikes. Aoi dreams of one day becoming a dancer at an underground club where only those who have been struck by lightning and survived are allowed to dance. Hovering between life and death, Aoi wanders through the village, caught in an inner conflict.

Some villagers fear being struck by lightning, while others believe that being struck will change their fate. Throughout the film, crabs repeatedly appear. They are a local specialty of the village, but also a symbol of desire and danger.

Filmed in a cabaret and at a volcanic crater in Kumamoto, Gekirai is a work about resurrection and acceptance, where a fictional world intersects with the imagery and traditions of folk tales.

『激雷』は、頻繁に落ちる雷によって外界から隔絶された架空の村を舞台とした映像作品である。雷に打たれて生き延びた人だけが踊り子になれる地下クラブで、いつか踊りたいと夢みるアオイ。生きるか死ぬかの瀬戸際で、アオイは葛藤しながら村を徘徊する。雷に打たれることを恐れる村人、雷に打たれたら運命が変わると信じる村人…本編を通して随所に現れる蟹はこの村の特産物であり、欲望と危険の象徴でもある。熊本のキャバレーと火山口で撮影された本編は、フィクショナルな世界と民話が交差する復活と受容をモチーフに描いた作品である。
