Umi Ishihara

A filmmaker and artist based between London and Kitakyushu. Their work intersects personal memory with social issues, documenting the lived histories of marginalized people and communities. Blending fiction and nonfiction, they collaborate with people from their own lives and local communities, working with non-professional actors and participants to create their films. Their work has been screened and exhibited internationally at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, the National Museum of Art, Osaka, Fukuoka Art Museum, Fondation Louis Vuitton, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Locarno Film Festival, and other institutions and festivals. _JAP_石原 海。ロンドンと北九州を拠点にする映画監督／アーティスト。個人の記憶と社会問題を交差させ、周縁化された人々やコミュニティの生活史を記録する映像を手がける。フィクションとノンフィクションを織り混ぜながら、身近な人々や地域住民など、プロの役者ではない生活者たちと共に制作を行なっている。作品は東京都写真美術館、国立国際美術館、福岡市美術館、ルイ・ヴィトン財団美術館、ロッテルダム国際映画祭、ロカルノ映画祭など、国際的に上映・展示されている。
