The premier of MyFi Studio’s “tie the knot: the twilight years connect us.” This ongoing video project contextualizes Miami as a shared home for Nam June Paik and MyFi Studio. Nam June Paik, the founder of video art, born in Korea, and lived in Miami from 1988-2006. Born in South Florida, and raised on the Internet, Aimee Rubensteen and Dr. Josh Eiesenberg started MyFi Studio the same year they married each other. The Miami artist duo build custom instruments and computer systems for their live performances, and share their tools online for public use. For this video, MyFi Studio continues their research into Paik’s time in Miami by excavating his art installations, and highlighting Miami’s role in the future of video art and computational systems.

本プロジェクトは、継続中の映像作品として、マイアミをナム・ジュン・パイクとMyFi Studioの「共有された故郷」として再文脈化する試みである。

ビデオアートの創始者であるナム・ジュン・パイクは韓国に生まれ、1988年から2006年までの間をマイアミで過ごした。一方、MyFi Studioは南フロリダ出身のエイミー・ルーベンスタインとジョシュ・アイゼンバーグ博士によって、ふたりが結婚した年に結成された。インターネット世代に育ったこのアーティスト・デュオは、ライブパフォーマンスのために独自の楽器やコンピュータシステムを制作し、それらのツールをオンラインで公開している。

本作では、パイクがマイアミで遺したインスタレーションを掘り起こしながら、彼の活動とこの土地との関係を再検証。マイアミが今後のビデオアートおよび計算機的システムにおいて果たす役割を浮かび上がらせている。
