Fremont

Donya is a former Afghan translator for the U.S. government who now lives alone in Fremont, California. When she’s promoted to writing the fortunes at her job at a fortune cookie factory in the city, Donya’s loneliness and longing inspire her to send out a hopeful message of connection in a cookie.

カリフォルニア州フリーモントにあるフォーチュンクッキー工場で働くドニヤは、アパートと工場を往復する単調な生活を送っている。母国アフガニスタンの米軍基地で通訳として働いていた彼女は、基地での経験から、慢性的な不眠症に悩まされている。ある日、クッキーのメッセージを書く仕事を任されたドニヤは、新たな出会いを求めて、その中の一つに自分の電話番号を書いたものをこっそり紛れ込ませる。すると間もなく1人の男性から、会いたいとメッセージが届き…。
