José Luis Guerín

José Luis Guerín was born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1960. He began making short films at the age of 15 and made his feature debut with Berta’s Motives in 1985. His films, including Innisfree (1990) and Train of Shadows (1997), have consistently explored the relationship between cinema, memory, reality and fiction. His 2001 film En construcción (Work in Progress) received the Special Jury Prize and FIPRESCI Prize at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, as well as the Goya Award for Best Documentary. His 2007 film In the City of Sylvia was selected for competition at the Venice International Film Festival. His subsequent works include Guest (2010), Memories of a Morning (2011) and The Academy of Muses (2015), continuing his distinctive practice across the boundaries of fiction and documentary. Good Valley Stories is his first feature film in approximately ten years, following The Academy of Muses. Filmed over three years in Vallbona, on the outskirts of Barcelona, the film received the Special Jury Prize at the 73rd San Sebastián International Film Festival._JAP_ホセ・ルイス・ゲリン。 1960年、スペイン・バルセロナ生まれ。15歳頃から短編映画の制作を始め、1985年に『ベルタのモチーフ』で長編デビュー。1990年の『イニスフリー』、1997年の『影の列車』など、映画そのものの記憶や、現実とフィクションの境界を探る作品を発表してきた。 2001年の『工事中』は、サン・セバスティアン国際映画祭審査員特別賞、FIPRESCI賞を受賞し、翌年にはゴヤ賞最優秀ドキュメンタリー賞を受賞。2007年の『シルビアのいる街で』はヴェネツィア国際映画祭コンペティション部門に選出され、その後も『ゲスト』（10）、『ある朝の思い出』（11）、『ミューズ・アカデミー』（15）など、劇映画とドキュメンタリーの境界を横断する作品を手がけている。 『よき谷の物語』は、『ミューズ・アカデミー』以来約10年ぶりとなる長編作品。バルセロナ郊外のバルボナ地区を3年にわたって撮影し、第73回サン・セバスティアン国際映画祭で審査員特別賞を受賞した。
