Babak Jalali

Babak Jalali is a British-Iranian filmmaker based in London. He studied East European Studies and Politics before earning an MA in Filmmaking from the London Film School. His graduation short Heydar. An Afghan in Tehran screened at over 60 festivals and was BAFTA-nominated.His debut feature Frontier Blues premiered at Locarno and won the FIPRESCI award at the San Francisco International Film Festival. His second film Radio Dreams won the Tiger Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. Land, his third feature, premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival, and his latest film Fremont (2023) premiered at Sundance, earning him the John Cassavetes Independent Spirit Award._JAP_ババク・ジャラリはロンドンを拠点に活動するイギリス系イラン人の映画監督。ロンドン大学で東欧研究と政治学を学んだ後、ロンドン・フィルム・スクールで映画制作を専攻。卒業制作の短編『Heydar. An Afghan in Tehran』は世界60以上の映画祭で上映され、BAFTAにノミネートされた。 長編デビュー作『Frontier Blues』はロカルノ国際映画祭でプレミア上映され、サンフランシスコ国際映画祭でFIPRESCI賞を受賞。第2作『Radio Dreams』ではロッテルダム国際映画祭の最高賞であるタイガー賞を受賞している。 第3作『Land』はネイティブ・アメリカン居留地を舞台にした現代西部劇で、ベルリン国際映画祭のパノラマ部門で上映。2023年の最新作『フォーチュンクッキー』はサンダンス映画祭でプレミア上映され、インディペンデント・スピリット・ジョン・カサヴェテス賞を受賞した。
